I have always enjoyed finding the inspiration behind pieces of art, culture and food so it was only natural for me to be curious about what inspired Candance to create her different teas. Each tea has a different function ranging from lactation tea to sleep and anxiety tea. With such a wide range of functions and options, how did Candance decide which function to pursue? I recently sat down with her and discussed the inspiration and intention behind four of her newest, freshest teas! Plus, the old favorites...
Revive: A green tea so it has a natural dose of caffeine “Green tea is life” explains Candance. And she’s not wrong! Green tea is a great go-to for when you’re sick, need an energy boost, or just want to feel “healthier and lighter”. Revive has the perfect blend of flowery and sweet to create an exciting, refreshing flavor that is a great pick-me-up for any time of day. “It promotes peppiness”!
BeauTea: This tea is a personal favorite. Not only does it taste amazing hot, but it also makes an insanely delicious lemonade (see recipe here). After Candance had her second child, Jax, one day she looked in the mirror and thought “Wow, I’ve aged”. Candance decided that she needed a better skincare routine, but it's not enough to just have a good topical skin care routine; "you have to also put the right stuff into your body”. It was this revelation that inspired her to create a tea that promotes healthy skin, hair, and nails. “Eating healthy isn’t always realistic as a busy mom so this tea is a great way to get the nutrients you need easily and quickly”.
Chillax: Candance explains that “raising children in this modern and sometimes scary world can be completely overwhelming sometimes”. So what was her solution? Create a tea that is ideal for sleep and anxiety. Chillax is one of the most popular among men and women because “everyone has tough stuff to deal with and can relate to wanting something to help those issues”. This tea won't solve all the world's problems but it does allow you to take a small break in your day for self-care. Chillax is made with valerian root which is a natural plant that can help combat anxiety and depression in a holistic manner. Like Candance says this tea is “for all the tough stuff we deal with”.
Treat Yo' Self: As any mom knows, it’s not always easy to get your kids to eat healthy stuff. So Candance made a tea that kids will not only find delicious (it has chocolate in it, for goodness sake!) but also provides essential vitamins and nutrients that kids often miss out on. The tea contains rooibos which is an immunity boosting miracle worker and true South African staple. “The chocolate makes this tea a great alternative to chocolate milk and is an easy way to trick kids into consuming something healthy”. But Treat Yo’ Self isn’t just for kids- moms and dads love it too!
Chill Chai: Chai is a great introduction to the world of tea because it is often the one most people are familiar with. And people are often surprised at just how healthy chai is for them. Chai tea is amazing because it has antioxidant properties, improves digestion and heightens the immune system plus, fights inflammation. What’s not to like?! Candance’s intention with Chill Chai was to give people a familiar way to drink moringa.
More Milk, Please! Tea: Candance struggled with breastfeeding after the birth of her first child and originally drank fenugreek to help promote lactation. But fenugreek doesn’t taste good and caused bloating and gassiness in her and her son. So Candance set off to create a tea that not only promotes lactation but also tastes good! More Milk, Please! Tea is fenugreek free and contains coriander and moringa to promote lactation. Not only does this was as lactation support, but it also helps mom reach their nutritional needs. Candance’s goal was to create something delicious and nutritious and she definitely succeeded!
Eazy Queazy: During Candance’s first pregnancy and especially during her second, she suffered from “awful, completely debilitating” morning sickness. She would often make homemade tea from ginger, honey, and moringa to combat nausea. She explained that in India moringa and chai ingredients are often used together to fight nausea. With this tea, Candance wanted to create a solution that would make those first months of pregnancy easier. If you don’t suffer from morning sickness have no fear! This tea also preps the body for postpartum life. Oh, and did we mention? It’s great for hangovers too.
RoyalTea: The tea of all teas! The very first tea in the Supermama line! When I asked Candance what she had to say about this tea she laughed and said: “Where do I start”? This tea is “so dang good” and extremely “comforting”. This tea solves the most challenging part of motherhood: not having enough energy to keep up with the kids. Take this morning, noon and night. Anytime you need a pick me up and a jolt of energy!
